At raves and DJ concerts, there’s moments where I dance and I find people that match that energy. I begin to dance with them. We don’t just stare and nod, we move the way we want with the energy in the room. Something we all share.
I hop from group to group, girl to girl, guy to guy, person to person. Each with their own energy, but all with the same pattern.
It’s the damn music.
We all connect, the music moves us. When someone needs a pick-me-up, or has to break the seal, or the music changes, or they get pulled away to buy drinks, the connection severs for a moment. But the dance continues because the music never stops.
Here’s what I know. Spirituality has proven that there’s a connection between all of us.
There’s a cosmic footprint stamped on our brains that makes the human condition a universal experience. It’s not profound, it’s just true.
Even after we leave the club, when the DJ isn’t present and mixing, the beat still plays.
The music is everywhere, actually. The connections, like the strings on an instrument, are waiting for us to pluck them. Music is just the loudest and most tangible form of the connection between people.
Next time you go in to pay for gas and a bag of chips, and you get rung up by a cashier, listen carefully to the music so you can pluck the string. It starts with a simple, “Hey, how’s your day going?”. Then when you take your change and walk out that door, the connection is gone, but the music keeps playing.
It just takes a second to tune in. Once you’re in, you realize your world is less of a lonely place.
