There are different aspects of ‘voice’, which you can memorize to try perfect impressions or improve the sound of your own. The following characteristics of ‘voice’ are on a sliding scale, some will be more pronounced than others.
- Rasp – The scratch may come from smoking too much. Associated with struggle.
- Baritone – The bulk of the voice. The uniqueness of a voice it still has apart from every other voice.
- Crack – Typically heard in adolescence, but can be heard in any voice if speaking happens long enough. May naturally occur regardless of use or age.
- Bass – How hard it shakes another’s eardrums. Bass-y voices cut through background and white noise, and even travel through walls easier. Consider Morgan Freeman.
- Pitch – High or low. Consider Lina Lamont from ‘Singing in the Rain’.
- Articulation – You either suck at talking or you’re smooth with it.
- Tone – The emotion behind the voice, what drives it. Psychopaths don’t have this, unless they’re faking it.
- Tempo – The music you made every time you spoke to me.
- Weight – When you said you couldn’t see me anymore.
- Breath – I can still feel it against my neck.
- Silence – Abused.
